SPECIAL EDITION: Misty
From the series Special Editions
Anne Lamb is an American artist currently living in Europe. Using mostly photography and video, her work examines themes of sexual anxiety, personal identity, and sensorial perception. She often uses the form of the body - both human and otherwise - as a sculptural device with which to explore the complex spectrum of human emotion and erotic relationships. Using colorful lights, dramatic staging, and unusual models, her photographs transport the viewer into an altered universe that is both shockingly bizarre and startlingly familiar. Her most recent work is an experimental documentary that explores a sexualized female gaze of the male gender through voyeuristic video documentation. What results is an intimately surreal portrait of the nature of sexuality and heartbreak that is as poignant as it is powerful.
She received a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in 2011, and a MA in Media Design from the Piet Zwart Institute in The Netherlands in 2016. She has worked for artists such as Marilyn Minter, Elektra KB, and Ryan McGinley. Currently she is working as an artist-in-residence at La Briche, an internationally-run art space in France.
